2 C&J ENERGY SERVICES C L E A R V I S I O N Continuing the Legacy of an Inspirational Leader 2017 was an outstanding year for C&J, and we started the year with our successful emergence from the financial restructuring, strongly positioned for the upsurge in completion activity. However, in 2017, we also recognized the first anniversary of the loss of our founder, Josh Comstock, who died unexpectedly in March 2016. From our humble beginnings in 1997 until his death, Josh boldly led our organization as chairman and chief executive officer. He was so proud of C&J and each member of the C&J family. Josh was an inspirational leader, and he continues to be missed by all who knew him. Like Josh, I am proud to lead such a talented and dedicated team. I am keenly aware and appreciative of the commitment, hard work, sacrifice and resiliency of our employees. Our employees are C&J’s most valuable asset, and they give us the ability to excel as we move into the future. Strong Foundation We established a clear direction for C&J, which drove our success in 2017 and serves as the foundation for our future. As we sharpened our focus and began to concentrate our resources on our core operations, we mapped out our purpose, goal, approach and core values. As a result of these efforts, C&J entered 2017 as a very different company than it was just a year earlier. We continued that evolution, following a deliberate path, and began 2018 with strength and conviction for the journey forward. We approach our business on the principle that great people drive our success. Always striving to be the very best at what we do in the industry, our purpose is to provide well construction and intervention, well completion and well support services and technologies to the U.S. oil and natural gas industry with uncompromising quality, safety and integrity.
