Asubstantialpartofourworkforceiscomprisedofoperationsspecialistswhoworkregularlyinthefield.Wecontinuouslyassesstherisksour employeesfaceintheirjobs,andweworktomitigatethoserisksthroughtraining,appropriateengineeringcontrols,workproceduresandother preventivesafetyandhealthprograms.Reducingincidentsandimprovingoursafetyincidentratesisimportant,butwearenotfocusedonlyon statistics.Lowincidentratesalonecannotpreventalarge-scaleincident,whichiswhywecontinuetofocusonenhancingourpreventivesafety programs,suchasnear-missreporting,vehicle-safetymonitoring,riskassessmentandothers. 2017SafetyandHealthPerformanceUpdatesandHighlights • Since2013wehaveexperienceda59%reductioninourTotalRecordableIncidentRate(“TRIR”). • Since2013strainsandsprains,ourmostprevalenttypeofinjury,hasdeclinedby69%. • Since2013wehaveexperienceda74%reductioninourDaysAway,Restricted&TransferredIncidentRate(“DART”). • Since2013wehaveexperienceda21%reductioninourPreventableVehicleIncidentRate(“PVIR). • In2017,weachieved1 st quartileperformanceamongstourAmericanGasAssociationpeersinallthreeofourSafety&HealthMetrics (TRIR,DART&PVIR)andhavehadnoPreventableSignificantIncidentsorFatalities(“SIFs”). ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE 2017EnvironmentalUpdatesandHighlights • Weretiredorreplacedapproximately425milesofdistributionandtransmissionfacilitiesin2017,including23milesofcastironpipe, whichwillresultindecreasedemissionsofmethane.Wehaveatotalof25milesofcastironpiperemainingtobereplaced,whichwe havecommittedtoreplacebytheendof2019. • In2017,ourEnergyEfficiencyPrograminOklahomaandtheAustinandRioGrandeValleyConservationProgramsinTexascombinedto issuemorethan115,300rebatestotalingapproximately$14millionthroughenergy-efficiencyandconservationprogramsthatoffered customersrebatesonnaturalgasappliancesandenergy-efficienthomeimprovements. • WecontinuetobeapartnerintheEnvironmentalProtectionAgency’s(“EPA”)NaturalGasSTARProgramandtheEPA’sMethane Challengeprogramtovoluntarilyreducegreenhousegasemissions.Weanticipatereportingin2018our2017performancetotheEPA. COMMUNITY INVESTMENT Wearecommittedtobeingactivemembersofthecommunitieswhereweoperate.Investingintheareaswherewehaveoperationsandwhere ouremployeesliveandworkisnotonlytherightthingtodo–it’ssmartbusiness.Bycontributingfinanciallyandthroughvolunteerwork,wecan helpbuildstrongercommunitiesandcreateabetterenvironmentforouremployees,ourcustomersandthegeneralpublic. Weaccomplishthisinanumberofways,includinggrantsfromtheONEGasFoundation,corporatesponsorshipstononprofitorganizationsand communityvolunteerefforts.Primaryfocusareasforourcommunityinvestmentsareeducation,healthandhumanservices,artsandculture, environmentalstewardshipandcommunityenrichment.Wegivepriorityconsiderationtoeducationalprogramsandtohealthandhumanservices organizations,particularlythosewithprogramsthathelppeoplebecomeself-sufficient. 2017CommunityInvestmentUpdatesandHighlights • In2017,wecontributedapproximately$2.7milliontononprofitorganizationsthroughtheONEGasFoundationandcorporate sponsorships,andouremployeesvolunteeredmorethan8,500hoursinourcommunities. Aspartofthemanagementsystem,wehaveestablishedcontractor qualification,selectionandretentioncriteriadesignedtoattractthemost qualifiedcompanies.Eachcompanywecontractwithisresponsiblefor providingpersonnelwhoareappropriatelyscreened,trained,qualified andareabletoperformspecifieddutiesrelatedtoallESHpoliciesand procedures.Onceselected,contractorsaremonitoredperiodicallyto ensuretheyareincompliancewithourESHexpectations.
